Phase 1: Building your Foundation helps support a school in establishing building-wide foundational academic and behavioral supports for all students as part of Tier 1 of the Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS). This tool kit will help create guiding documents using prevention to build a sustainable behavioral health system.
Phase 3: Supporting Tiers 1 and 2 with Tier 3 Interventions will help a school develop strategies of identifying students and determining what interventions may be appropriate for students with the most need, while continuing to strengthen Tier 1 and 2 strategies. This tool kit will facilitate discussion on roles and responsibilities, collaborating with outside service providers, strengthening communication, involving families, and the role of special education in the process.
Phase 2: Strengthening Tier 1 While Adding Tier 2 builds upon foundational behavioral health concepts by working to sustain and strengthen Tier 1 systems, while introducing targeted interventions for individual students needing additional structure and reteaching. This phase will assist schools in creating a strategic intervention plan and utilizing a team approach to support learners at the individual and/or group level.
